In this section, I can’t wait to share with you some of my favourite activities that are great to use in class at Christmas. Hopefully, there are some new gems to discover.
Brie-Anna de Mouse, star of Maths with a Mouse
First up in the in the section is The Great Elf Game, in which your pupils will need to be as successful as possible with their Christmas tree business. They will, however, quickly discover that risk needs to be carefully considered!
Who doesn't love working in a team solving maths problems in a competitive situation? Stinky potatoes, that's who! If you are lucky enough to have mousematicians rather than stinky potatoes, they are likely to enjoy this relay game, assuming that it is right in the marshmallow spot in terms of challenge.
Once again, be aware that this resource is presently available (at my time of typing) as a free download from TES resources.
Next up is a rather odd choice for this section as it has nothing to do with Christmas! However, it is the perfect time of the year to allow your class to play (dramatic music plays)...THE PIRATE GAME!
Although the rules are a little complex, once these have been mastered, revenge, frustration, excitement, fear and joy, will be only a few of the emotions present in the room at any point!
Guess what? As before, be aware that this resource is presently available (at my time of typing) as a free download from TES resources.
Although I have probably added quite a few of my favourite tasks from Transum's Christmaths selection, you might want to look at the rest of their amazing collection. Transum is great and I want to wish them a Happy Christmas and a Merry Christmouse!
